The island was quickly developing a new routine:
1) wake up
2) eat breakfast
3) work out or lounge around on the couches
4) watch Jeremiah and Huda attempt to talk
5) pray for the best.
They were currently at the praying part.
"Jeremiah confuses me," Chelly muttered, perched by Ace. Olandria liked the site of Ace and Chelly together—they were just a hot couple. She also liked Ace. He said what he wanted to say without hesitation, and knew how to put on a show. She could respect that.
"Yeah?" Ace asked, looking up at Chelly.
"I mean, he's trying to make amends, but at some point he's gotta realize that Huda's not on the same page."
"But that's my thing," Taylor said, his arm draped over Olandria's shoulders. "She don't want nobody else. So she gotta stop being stubborn and let shit go."
"She's not gonna do that," Chelly replied easily. "That's not how she is—it's her way or the high way, unfortunately."
"Well her way is bullshit," Ace replied easily. "Straight bullshit yo, I don't know why he keep running back. She not that fine."
Chelly smacked Ace's arm, and he barked out a laugh, Taylor chuckling too.
Olandria could call Huda a lot of things, but ugly certainly wasn't one.
The conversation continued, but Olandria caught herself slipping away from it. A part of her would love to go over there and snap some sense into Huda, but the last time she did that, the girl cried and played victim. Now, Olandria kept her opinions to herself.
Besides, she was too busy watching Nic pull Cierra into his lap.
Cierra giggled, allowing herself to be manhandled between Nic's legs, and they cuddled each other like they were made for each other. Olandria didn't typically move fast—she was a slow burner, and everyone knew she was.
But now she wished Taylor would pull her into his lap, kiss her neck the way Nic was kissing Cierra's, doze off into their own world instead of worrying about whatever the fuck Huda and Jeremiah were talking about.
Nic stared so intently when Cierra talked, almost like he was trying to absorb her words. He made her laugh so easily, smile so brightly.
Why the fuck was Olandria jealous? She should be happy for Cierra.
Why did Nic call her beautiful? She knew she was beautiful, but why did it have to come out of his mouth?
Nic said something, and his eyes suddenly looked at Olandria. She stiffened, and immediately averted her eyes back to the sight of Huda getting louder. She felt his eyes linger before he turned his gaze back to Cierra.
"Wait, you kissed Huda?"
That got everyone's attention. They all spun to stare at the shocked Chelly and the cackling Ace, who was trying to shush her.
"Damn, you loud as shit."
"I fucking knew it," she said with a gasp, although she sounded like she wanted to laugh.
"Wait what?" Nic asked in confusion. Olandria was equally confused.
"We talkin' bout the second night's challenge, when we were blindfolded."
Olandria felt like she was being teleported back there. She kissed Ace, and was kissed by someone else. Both kisses had been nice, but she remembered hesitating, especially over the mystery person. Would she seriously consider going somewhere else, away from Taylor, just because they knew how to kiss?
But it was Love Island. That was kind of the point.
"Wait, you chose to get up?" Olandria asked Ace.
"Bruh, I was not feeling Yulissa," he said with a scoff, earning a laugh out of everyone. "So yeah, I got up. I kissed Chelly. Then I was like, hmm fuck it, lemme try something, and I kissed Huda."
"You're so fucking messy," Cierra laughed. Ace shrugged sheepishly.
"Wait, who else stood up?"
There was hesitation, for a moment. Olandria did stand up, but did she feel like revealing the fact that she kissed Ace? Especially, when he was like a little brother to her now?
From the corner of her eye, she saw Nic staring at her. She felt warm, all over again. Fuck, he needed to stop staring at her.
Quiet, for a moment.
And then Chelly sheepishly raised her hand.
"I knew it," Ace cooed.
"Who said I kissed you?" She retorted.
"I know them lips anywhere," he replied in that typical Ace way, charming and disarming. Chelly smiled big enough that her cheeks looked ready to explode and Olandria rolled her eyes.
"Olandria, you didn't stand up?" Nic asked curiously.
"Did you?" She shot back.
"Yeah, I made out with Austin-"
Everyone burst out into laughter. Nic had the audacity to act offended. "What? What, it was a hot kiss! Austin my dawg."
Olandria stared at Nic. He stared back, and it was like no one seemed to notice that they were eyeing each other.
Was she suspicious? No, not at all.
It's just that she remembered the person who kissed her had a low beard. A stubble like his. Lips that weren't as full as hers, but certainly knew how to kiss. Whoever kissed her knew how much she liked to kiss with her tongue, seemed to sense that she liked having her jaw held when she was kissed.
Whoever kissed her knew how to take the lead when they kissed. And that kiss left her conflicted for the whole fucking night.
They were talking, about what she didn't know, and Nic stared at her and she stared at him. His eyes glanced downwards, glanced at her lips.
Oh oh oh oh-
"Did you get kissed, Olandria?" Cierra asked.
Olandria tried to snap herself out of the haze, giving Cierra her full attention. "Mhmm."
"Did you like it?" Cierra asked cheekily.
Nic was still staring at her.
"I liked the kiss," she answered slowly. "I liked it a lot."
And Nic—discreet Nic—smiled ever so slightly.
Oh that piece of shit.
"My shaylaaa," Taylor bellowed in faux agony, gripping his chest. "Whoever did it better sleep with one eye open."
They all laughed. Olandria felt her stomach flutter as Taylor brought her in to a sweet, possessive hug. She puckered her lips, and he kissed them.
Good: a familiar kiss.
From the corner of her eye, Nic finally stopped watching her and went back to updating the group on the development of Huda and Jeremiah.
They watched like a bunch of nosey neighbors, throwing their two-cents every now and then.
And every now and then, Olandria pretended not to notice the way Nic was looking at her.
And she pretended not to notice the way it excited her.
