Welcome, I hope you enjoy this as much as I did when I was writing it!

~

You huff, stepping out of the building, heels clicking onto the sidewalk. You have your purse slung over your shoulder with the box of your things held tightly to your chest. "After everything I did for them," you spit out to yourself as you glare at the company's proudly displayed logo.

Years of hard work, dedication, and commitment, all thrown out the window. Not even a reason for your termination. Just a box of your things shoved towards you and a finger pointed to the door as security approached.

"This is bullshit," you mutter angrily, marching away. It's truly absurd that you were fired. You always gave it your all. You had breakups because of how much time you dedicated to work.

Managing a K-pop group took time and effort. You didn't have any pets, because you couldn't give them enough affection after a draining day. You didn't have a boyfriend, because you spent so much time out of the house.

You didn't even have a best friend anymore after you missed one too many meetups. It's a bit sad what your life has come to. Everything you had sacrificed, and for nothing in return.

"Excuse me," someone called, breaking you from your thoughts. You turn to see a tall, lithe man with neatly styled black hair. You scowl at him, already expecting the worst.

"What?" you snap, clutching your box a little tighter. All it holds anyways is a stapler and a couple photos in inexpensive frames.

"You dropped this," the man says, holding out a hand. In his palm rests a glittering bracelet. It's too nice to be yours.

"That's not mine," you tell him, already turning on your heel. You get a few steps in before he glides in front of you, still smiling gently.

Honestly, he's not unattractive. If you weren't in such a bad mood you would've taken the time to soak in his beauty.

But you are in a bad mood, so you don't.

"It's not mine." You glare at him, narrowing your eyes. "I already told you that."

"Are you sure?" He tilts his head, strands of hair falling out of place. He blows them away before smiling at you again. "It's gorgeous... It suits you so well."

"It's not mine," you firmly say for the third time. "If I have to say it again, I'm going to empty this box over your head."

He peers into it before he has the audacity to rummage through the items. He pulls out the stapler and raises an eyebrow at you. "It would do more damage to just use this on me."

You take a deep breath, calming yourself so you don't actually follow through with his suggestion. "Give that back, and get out of my face. I don't need to be dealing with someone like you, today."

"Someone like me?" He rakes a hand through his hair, sweeping it out of his face. "What is someone like me like?"

"Annoying," you say bluntly, swiping the stapler back. You continue to walk away, this time at a faster pace.

"I'm Jinu," he calls as you make your getaway. "But you'll know that soon. I think we can come to a beneficial agreement!"

You ignore his nonsensical ramblings and return home. It's a nice-enough apartment with noticeable flaws. Sure the fridge door gets stuck, and sure the curtains aren't dark enough to block the sun, but it's home.

You set the box down near the front door with an irritated sigh. Jinu is still running through your mind, because he's annoying.

And attractive.

But mostly annoying.

You grab the stapler and place it on your desk, frowning at the sticky note that's attached to it. It had a phone number written on it that you can't bring yourself to throw out.

"I've found us a manager," Jinu announces, shrugging his coat off. He hangs it up on an hook and stretches his arms out. "She'll be great for us."

Mystery glances over his shoulder, face obscured by his hair. But by now, Jinu has learned how to read him.

Jinu scoffs. "Oh, come on. I know what I'm talking about."

"Does she know we're demons?" Abs asks from the couch, feet kicked up onto the coffee table. His features are lit up by his phone screen.

Jinu hesitates. "No, but she's still a good fit. There's this bitterness to her, that will drive her to us. Our demon spirits, and her anger... We'll be such a good match."

Baby takes a juice from the fridge and sits next to Abs. He uncaps it and takes a swig before asking, "But she'll agree to our plans?"

Jinu grins widely, eyes glinting with a spark that hadn't been there in what seems like forever. "She just needs a little push. Something to ruin her, and bring out that edge that we need. And we're the ones who can do it."
