Sleeping alone was the last thing Olandria was upset about.
In fact, that was the one perk she was excited about, even though she was single and vulnerable. She disliked hearing snores and breathing and share too much body warmth. Sure, it was nice to want to be cuddled and be comfortable, but Olandria wanted to spread herself in the middle of her bed and pass the fuck out.
Except, she couldn't sleep.
She could hear the gentle breathing of everyone in their beds—save for Amaya's heavy snoring—and could see Cierra and Nic in bed together. They weren't moving, but Cierra was cuddling Nic in their sleep.
Good. This was how things were supposed to be.
Taylor and Clarke shifted, and she could hear the soft smacking of lips. God, she didn't want to hear that. Wasn't there enough rejection for one day?
Olandria stood up and slowly slipped her shoes on, creeping outdoors.
Fiji was stunning, and she would be an idiot to not enjoy the nature when she could. The humming of the island filled her body up with this calm safety, like the island was alive and could feel her need for comfort.
Oh, that was poetic, Olandria hasn't been poetic in so long.
She found her way to the dock, the sound of the trickling water immediately flooding her ears. Olandria wiped the seat and sat down, watching the vast ocean before them spread out into an empty horizon. Big, full, leading to somewhere.
Or nowhere.
Olandria felt like she was going nowhere.
What was the point of her being on the show? Taylor chose Clarke, Nic was with Cierra. She wouldn't interfere with either relationships.
She'd go back home. Maybe talk to Jalen, ask him if he wants go out for coffee. Or maybe she'd talk to Mama, ask where she went wrong. Her strong mama, who loved so hard it scared Olandria. She saw the way her mama captured the attention of so many men with her alluring beauty.
But Olandria saw how quick they were to abuse it. It was why Mama made sure she didn't date in high school, made sure she kept her head focused in college. Olandria saw the worst kind of men growing up, and soon experienced them.
Her mama was protecting her from getting heart broken.
So why was her heart aching so much?"
"Why are you out of bed?"
Olandria jumped, grabbing her heart and spun around quickly.
Nic froze, and threw his hands up. "My fault-"
She let out a breath she didn't know she was holding and glared. "Jesus Christ, Nic, scared the devil out of me."
Nic snickered and took a seat next to her. He was shivering, which—duh, he was shirtless. His skin had gotten so tan and sculpted since they've been here.
"Get back in bed with Cierra."
"I will," he muttered, staring at her with kind eyes. "Don't wanna make her suspicious. Just—wanted to check in on you. That's all."
Why was her heart aching?
"Clingy," she replied gently.
He smiled, and it was warm. "Told you I was."
"Y'all good?"
Nic nodded. "Told her what you told me to tell her."
"Did you miss her?"
Nic paused. Then slowly, he nodded. "...yeah. Y'know, Cierra is... she has a big heart, y'know. She cares a lot."
Olandria nodded. "Yeah."
