a/n: long awaited stand on business challenge. watch this be not worth the wait lmao 💀

Austin was the first to go. Andreina asked him how he was still here and Nic tried hard not to laugh. Austin was hilarious and terrifying and it was a scary mix. Austin gave a very locked in answer that Nic could respect.

Amaya went second and that's where everything began to fall to shit.

First, it was Chris complaining about her snoring, which she giggled and excused as singing.

But then the second letter came, telling her how she cried over everything and was too much. Amaya responded with tears that made Nic side-eye everyone. "God forbid I'm a sensitive gangsta," she tried to joke, and Nic made sure to cheer loudly for her.

He regretted the way he immediately believed that she was insane in the beginning—which she was! But Amaya was so genuine, so true, and sometimes Nic wished he could sit down with her and ask her how she did it. How she was able to smile and scream and cry and shout and be so outrageously and vicariously her and not feel shame; even when the world asked her to.

Austin admitted to writing it, but apologized for the harshness of it. Coco sat up straight, glaring at him but didn't say anything. Then, right when Amaya and Austin were beginning to clear things up, Ace opened his mouth.

"But when you start with all that, 'babe, lemme grab this for you', 'babe, let me do that,' you coming at it very strong off the rip, and I just wanted to slow the pace down of that."

"Bro," Nic sighed, staring at Ace.

Ace realized that he added fuel to the fire and his eyes went wide—regret, was it? Amaya began crying harder and he hated the way her face looked, screwed up and miserable. But still, she sniffed and replied, "you know, I'm not the book that someone should be reading and that's okay."

The girls began to pitch in, trying to comfort her, but Coco was shaking, her leg twitching. She looked ready to explode.

Nic stared at Zak, blinking a couple of times. Zak was quiet, not saying a fucking thing. He couldn't respect it. Zak talked about Amaya so highly, like she was all the perfect things—and yet he couldn't defend her? Nic opened his mouth but was interrupted.

"One thing I gotta add though." The voice belonged to Bryan. Nic immediately thought about their conversation earlier, the way he looked at Amaya and said he wanted to try. "From a Hispanic household, calling someone 'babe,' 'mi amor,' 'mi vida'? That's just how we talk. You're telling her to meet you half-way, you gotta meet her half-way too."

"I did that!" Ace argued, and Nic sighed. This was growing long already and they were just on the second person.

"That is so corny, Ace," Coco snapped. "Really fucking corny, she was already fucking crying. You made your point a thousand days ago, why the fuck reiterate it?"

Ace frowned. "I thought the whole point was to stand on business and share my perspective, I'm a fucking man who's gonna stand on business-"

"Fuck, all of that," Coco argued, "because a fucking man knows when to pick his battles and when to shut the fuck up."

Ace scoffed. "Ain't nobody gonna tell me when to shut the fuck up."

"I wish somebody fucking would," Coco snapped back, hot venom leaving her words.

The producers were watching. Pam was in the back, arms crossed, that perpetual glare glued to her face. Harry watching too intently, muttering into his headset.

Amaya's voice quivered as she tried to calm say, "I respect that, thank you guys for sharing your thoughts."

Nic glared at Zak. At the corner of his eye he could also see Olandria glaring at Zak too. Zak swallowed nervously and then opened his mouth.
